SELF-ESTEEM & IDENTITY

In my opinion, the best way to build self-esteem is to simply make room for it. We locate the negative thoughts that you maintain about yourself, seek to understand their origins, and then help them to relax and change form. When those restraints let go, self-esteem emerges.

Depression

Feelings of sadness, crying spells, sleep disturbances including insomnia and sleeping too much, changes in appetite and weight, loss of interest or pleasure in doing things, social isolation, and much more. Depression is one of the most common mental health issues that people face. Don’t face it alone. There are tools that you can learn to help.

Anxiety

Symptoms of anxiety can include a feeling that’s out of proportion to the impact of the event, rapid heart rate, panic attacks, the inability to set aside a worry, and restlessness. Anxiety is a physical response caused by a trigger. That trigger can be any of the five senses. What’s important is learning the coping strategies to reduce this feeling quickly and safely.

PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)

I am trained and certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy. Cognitive processing therapy is a manualized therapy used to help people recover from post-traumatic stress disorder and related conditions. It includes elements of cognitive behavioral therapy treatments.

Healthy Lifestyle

It can be difficult to start a new path. It is also just as difficult to maintain that new path. Weeds and brush will grow back on a path that is not used regularly. Change is difficult, and sometimes we just need that little push to either start or to maintain. I have a unique background that may be able to help with starting a new healthy lifestyle, losing weight, or even maintaining a healthy lifestyle that you have already started.

RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS

Relationships are a significant aspect of life. Whether you want to enrich a bond or sort out a struggle with someone, I can help you navigate these dynamics. In this work, we look at the history of your connections with others, explore the meaning of those attachments, and examine how you’re applying what you learned then, to your relationships now.

HEALING AND EMPOWERMENT

Life can sometimes leave you feeling defeated. A difficult breakup, the loss of a loved one, failure, or self-doubt can feel quite debilitating. In this work, clients are encouraged to explore feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness, doubt, ect. Clients are able to safely explore current and past pain, welcome uncomfortable feelings, understand unhealthy patterns, and process their experiences. Finally, we work together to find ways for you to be empowered through self-acceptance and understanding.

PREMARITAL COUNSELING

Premarital counseling is a great way to prepare for one of your most significant steps in life. In my work with engaged, or pre-engaged couples, I collaborate with you and your partner to develop a plan for how you would like to grow as a couple prior to tying the knot. We will work together to openly communicate your expectations of your future spouse and of your marriage, to learn one another’s love languages, develop healthy conflict resolution habits, learn how to deal with the stress that wedding planning or family merging may have, and enhance your connection with one another.

TRANSITIONS

Life is full of transitions, and those changes, whether positive or negative affect our relationships. Some transitions that may have a significant affect on relationships include moving in together, new dynamics with in-laws, starting a family, moving to a new city, or starting a new career to name a few. I am here to help you navigate the changes in your life as a team, helping you feel supported, understood and cared for by your partner.

COMMUNICATION

You may have heard people say that communication is key. While I believe that there are many significant factors that create a healthy relationship, communication is one of the essential ingredients to a successful and fulfilling relationship. Many couples have a difficult time communicating with their partner. The good news is that we are all capable of learning how to be effective communicators; we just need to take the time and make the effort to learn good communication skills and put them into practice.
